A Song For Richard

It falls in the woods

Flowing down like a river

From the mountains and the hills

Onward to the beach

To the sea and the waves

Floating on to new horizons

Where it rises with the sunshine

And blows across the land

Then

It falls in the woods

Flowing down like a river

From the mountains and the hills

Onward to the beach

To the sea and the waves

Floating on to new horizons

Where it rises with the sunshine

And blows across the land

While you and me

We're just caught up in it all

Looking for an answer to the question

Of where it all began?

Did it fall in the woods?

Did it flow like a river?

Did it rise with the sunshine?

Or blow across the land?

Can't you see?

That it doesn't really matter

For if there's no beginning

Then maybe there's no end

I wrote this song for my cousin and best friend Richard Wright, while he was dying of lung cancer. I can't think of anything more to say, except that he liked it and he gave me permission to release it with his photograph.
